Unsurprisingly, Linda McCartney’s work as a photographer has been greatly overshadowed by her marriage to Paul McCartney. As a young receptionist working for Town & Country Magazine, McCartney had the gumption to take advantage of an unused press pass for a Rolling Stones promo event. Her career as a rock n’ roll photographer was born. She caught Eric Clapton, The Who, Otis Redding, and B.B. King among many, many others, in a soft, relaxed light that can only be attributed to her deep sense of compassion.
Now until 4th May, a retrospective her work can be viewed at Le Pavillon Populaire in Montpellier, France. Over 200 photographs of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and more will be on display at this Urchin-envy event. Anyone care to take a poor Urchin to France?
